SERVICES

TUNING

Our goal as pipe organ tuners is to maintain a sound that is as precisely in tune as it is full of life and musical interest. This begins and ends with a deep understanding of how each instrument works in its native environment.

MAINTENANCE & REPAIR

From the intermittent cipher to the broken cancel piston to the complex winding problem in a division that won't hold its tune any more, our staff of experienced technicians can handle service and repairs no matter the size.

RESTORATION

For the once-in-a-lifetime pipe organ restoration project, organ relocation, tonal additions, or console rebuild, Emery Brothers has a proven track record of excellent results in projects across pipe organs of all shapes and sizes.

ABOUT US

ABOUT US

Located in Allentown, PA, Emery Brothers is a pipe organ tuning, service, and restoration company with over 300 instruments under its care. Headed by Owner Adam Dieffenbach, the Emery Brothers team comprises well over a century of collective experience working on pipe organs in churches, conservatories, and residences.

Our story begins with Steve Emery (pictured at left inside the Wanamaker Organ console), who founded Emery Brothers, Inc. in 1994. Over the course of his forty-plus-year career Steve has gained a national reputation for first-rate pipe organ tuning and service. From that time on Steve continued to see an ongoing increase in demand for the service, tuning, and restoration he became known for. In 2002 Emery Brothers, Inc. acquired the Fritzsche Organ Company, including the shop property on Emmaus Avenue in Allentown that has been our home ever since.

Music has always been an integral part of Steve's life, beginning piano at age 4, and organ in high school. After graduation from high school, Steve attended Westminster Choir College, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree, and completed post-baccalaureate work in Church Music (organ emphasis). Over the years Steve has held several church music posts, including St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Telford, where he first encountered Fritzsche Organ Company, followed by his multi-decade tenure at Zwingli United Church of Christ in Souderton, where he still directs the bell choir.

Owner Adam F. Dieffenbach joined the Emery Brothers team in 2013 with six years' previous experience, and bought the company from Steve Emery in 2016. Adam is a descendant of four generations of Dieffenbach pipe organ builders active in Berks County, Pennsylvania ca. 1780-1900. Adam particularly enjoys helping our clients get the most out of their instruments, through mechanical restoration and rebuilding, repairs and service work, and tonal additions and revisions as well. Adam is a member of The American Institute of Organbuilders, the American Guild of Organists, the Alexander Quinn Camp of the Sons of Spanish American War Veterans, The American Legion, and the National Rifle Association,
